The harbour is one of the main features of Seahouses. Not only is it attractive in its own right, with a variety of types and sizes of vessels, it is also the crucial base for all the many marine services - Farne Island tours; cruises to Holy Island; sea angling; diving; commercial fisheries; ...

The operational base for all Farne Island activities is the main pier of Seahouses harbour. Nature lovers especially ornithologists, conservationists, scientists and the BBC, and ordinary 'trip round the bay' holidaymakers make direct contact with the summer-time booking offices on the hard near the lifeboat station. Links in the green box below can be used at other seasons: all services continue all year to varying extents on an 'on demand' timetable. The whole group of islands is the property of the National Trust, protected as a nature reserve: one or more Wardens reside there throughout the year. Freelance landings are prohibited, but tour operators include land-tours too by arrangement, with fees payable to the National Trust in some cases.

The beaches immediately adjacent to Seahouses are up among the top clean, wide, firm, safe, sandy beaches in the whole country: Northumberland is famous for them. There is no vehicular access onto the sands (the nearest is at Beadnell). Parking is limited to the dune roadsides north of the village or the grass verges on the village side of the golf clubhouse.  Visitors can get away from it all, with not more than a dozen others even if it's 'crowded', saunter through the dunes or cross the golf course on a public path, and stake a temporary claim to their own acres of freedom.

For visitors interested in Seahouses Golf Club the following are its basic vital statistics. It operates its course on the south side of the village, between the Annstead Burn and the headland bordering our sea cliffs. The 18-hole course is of 5,542 yards (S.S.S. 67). The soil is sandy and well drained, so rounds can be enjoyed at virtually any season of the year. The clubhouse, with free parking, offers a welcome to visitors except on tournament days, with catering, bar and normal club facilities. Phone 01665 720 794.
